After School String Programs

Violin, Viola, Cello, and Double Bass Classes:

Make Music NOLA's after school programs meet three days a week for four hours at the Bell Artspace Campus in Treme.  Our students recieve intensive instruction on string instruments in group classes.  Advanced students have the opportunity to play chamber music.

Workshops:

All students have the chance to participate in workshops with professional musicians.  MMN students have previously participated in workshops with T-Ray the Violinist, Nadia Salerno Sonnenberg, Mollie Docuste, and musicians from the State Department-sponsored 1Beat tour.

Performances:

All students enrolled in Make Music NOLA perform about four concerts a year, including two program wide recitals, a solo recital, and six community based concerts at different events around New Orleans.

Field Trips, Summer Camp, and Concerts:

MMN students have the opportunity to attend field trips to NOCCA and performances around the city.  MMN has also sponsored several students to attend summer music camps outside of New Orleans.

School Programs - Strings and K-4 General Music.

Make Music NOLA partners with charter schools to provide string classes and K-4 general music classes during the school day.  Our teachers work within the charter school community to provide high quality music instruction as part of the curriculum.  We also bring in guest artists for workshops and performances at all of our partner schools.

All students from our in-school programs are invited to attend Make Music NOLA's Saturday classes, summer sessions, and perform in our end of semester recitals.

Make Music NOLA's programs are open to any student in Orleans Parish who is eligible for free or reduced lunch.
